Clint and Krista Smythe

 

Hi everyone! We are Clint and Krista Smythe and our home country is New Zealand. Our background is in horticulture and education. We have three adult children of our own who are all settled in their chosen careers now and it was time for us to give back. We have been living in Siem Reap, Cambodia since April 2018.

 

We both volunteer at different NGOs; Clint works with farmers helping them improve vegetable production and Krista at Touch A Life which provides meals for children and their families. We met Kosal and the children through Touch A Life and, from the beginning, were really impressed by the values they demonstrated; they were hardworking, reliable, cheerful, kind, and looked out for each other. As we heard more of their stories and where they had come from, we could see the difference One Life One Future was making in their lives.

 

These are young people that have been through so much and lacked any opportunities for education. Any yet, they consistently work hard at their studies and cheerfully give back by volunteering at Touch A Life. As we built closer relationships with them, we found we shared similar values; the importance of family and authentic, trusting relatinoships, of educatino of giving back, of kindness, and of empowering people to be the best they can be. One Life One Future exemplifies all of these values. We feel privileged to serve along side Kosal in helping these children achieve their dreams.
